
USD 234 will provide preschool screenings for children up to the age of 5
years on September 22, 2023. Children may have vision, hearing,
speech/communication, motor skills, socialization skills, and general
development screened.
The purpose of the screenings is to locate and identify children with possible developmental delays who may need special education preschool and/or related services. Appointments may be scheduled by calling Tammy Catron, Fort Scott Preschool Center Secretary, at (620) 223-8965, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.


Reminder! There will be no school on Friday, September 1st or Monday, September 4th- due to Labor Day!

Hedgehog. INK will once again be hosting a Writers Seminar, Oct 21, 2023 - see attached flyer and registration form. They are planning on another great seminar for writers at all levels of ability and interest.
High School and College Students may attend at no charge but do need to fill out a registration form. (Any teacher bringing students will also be free).
The authors presenting the sessions in the morning will showcase their books at the multi-author fair in the afternoon at Hedgehog. INK- Make sure to check out this awesome event!



Meet Pepper! This girl is sure to steal our hearts as the other new therapy dog with USD 234. She is currently still in training, but is ready for her big 1st day- September 7th! Pepper will primarily be at Winfield Scott - with owner, Jennifer Tourtillott (Counselor), but she is available as needed through out the district. She is so excited to be a Tiger & we are excited to have her!


Meet Molly! This girl is stealing all of our hearts as the new therapy dog with USD 234. She is currently still in training, but is already making an impact on us! Molly belongs to Candace Jobe, our MIS Clerk (Special Education Administrative Assistant). She is so excited to be a Tiger & we are excited to have her!


Staff and students are ready to get an awesome year going. Fort Scott Community College Students were even kind enough to welcome us in again! We're glad to have our Tigers back! 🐾

Over the weekend, USD 234 Staff wrapped up Summer with a pool party! It was a great time for staff and their families to gather before the new school year. We want to give a special thanks to the Fort Scott Aquatic Center and Tiger Ice for their parts in this event as well. The Tiger Family is excited to be back and can't wait to welcome our students next week!


The USD 234 2023-2024 Freshman Orientation will be held at FSHS on Thursday, August 10th a 10:00 am! 🐾


Update! The FSMS and FSHS Open House times have been adjusted to add an additional 30 minutes to their time frames. Sixth Grade Orientation will be held from 5:30 pm- 6:00 pm. The Eugene Ware, Winfield Scott, and Preschool Open House times will remain the same as originally stated.


Attention Fort Scott Preschool Parents! A big thank you to Fort Scott Preschool who will be donating the school supplies for the Fort Scott Preschool this year.


Enrollment Reminder! If you have not yet enrolled your students for the USD 234 2023-2024 school year, you can still do so. You are able to enroll them online through Power School as well as coming into any school building as of Monday, August 7th (8:00 am to 4:00 pm.)
