USD 234 and Fort Scott High School are excited to recognize Mrs. Amy Harper as the FSHS Teacher of the Year and 2024 Kansas Teacher of the Year Nominee. Mrs. Harper teaches math at FSHS and serves as the math department lead and Guiding Coalition Team member. In addition to ensuring success for her students, she is also intentional about establishing relationships with them. When students are asked about how their class is going, it is not uncommon to hear, "Mrs. Harper is just a good teacher." According to Mr. Kimble, "When she's at the board teaching, that's where the magic happens."
"The Kansas Teacher of the Year Award recognizes and utilizes representatives of excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state. Its mission is to build and utilize a network of exemplary teachers who are leaders in the improvement of schools, student performance, and the teaching profession," according to KSDE. The Administrative Council believes that Mrs. Harper displays the characteristics necessary to represent USD 234 in this extensive selection process.
Congratulations, Mrs. Harper, and Good Luck! #TeamTiger
