It's National School Lunch week! Research shows children eat their healthiest meals at school, thanks to federal nutrition standards. School lunches must meet limits on calories, fat and sodium, and offer students a daily choice of fruits, vegetables, milk, whole grains and lean protein. We are thankful to have great lunches available at USD 234!

On behalf of the USD 234 School District, we would like to invite you to the 2023 Early Childhood Trunk-or-Treat. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, October 26 from 4:30-6:00 PM at the Fort Scott Preschool Center Gym. All children ages birth through six years old and their families are invited to attend. Last year, school staff and community partners were able to connect with 255 children and their families at our Trunk-or-Treat.
If you are a family resource provider or a community partner, we invite you to attend and set up a table from which children can trick-or-treat. During this time, you may also provide brochures, resources, and/or helpful information related to your program. Our goal is to inform families about the resources available in our community. If you are a preschool or childcare provider, please share the attached flyer with your families. We also welcome you to set up a table for your program.
If you plan to attend our event, please complete the form below by Friday, October 20th so we can have a table reserved for your organization.

Thanks to Staci Black & Adam Feagins, some of our USD 234 students were able to complete a design challenge by making a prototype AFO (Ankle Foot Orthosis) for a child with cerebral palsy.
After completing the design challenge Barry Campbell, CO from Hanger Clinic in Overland Park, KS visited the Design and Modeling students and demonstrated the molding process for designing orthotics.
Mr. Campbell spoke to students about career opportunities in designing/building orthoses. He also brought several AOF's and allowed the students to try them on.
Our district loves being able to have such great visitors come and see us! 🐾

Last week FSMS celebrated the retirement of custodian, CJ Feagins, with an exciting send off! A live band and a personal message from Lynyrd Skynyrd's lead vocalist made for a pretty great ending to his 10 years with us. Thanks for all of your dedication and hard work, CJ. Enjoy retirement! 🐾
